Thanksgiving

Posted on

Thanksgiving weekend was a blast. Steph and Steph came to visit from NYC.

Thanksgiving day – we spent at the Kellaher’s in Maryland. I made my first cheesecake. There was so much delicious food and drink. We pried ourselves away from the table several hours later to go home and watch Hunger Games (while possibly eating more pie…)

Friday – we walked around the Capitol and the Mall and popped into the National Gallery of Art and the American History Museum. We had lunch at Ben’s Chili Bowl – where Anthony was scouted for the Ben’s eating competition for next year. The women who worked there and organizes the competition said that she has never seen anyone eat a half smoke as fast as he had. I knew he had talent.
At night we took a night drive around the monuments, had dinner at Liberty Tree on H Street and a night cap at Old Ebbitt’s.

Saturday – we went to Mount Vernon! I love going at Christmastime for the decorations, the open third floor, and most importantly the Christmas camel Aladdin. We spent several hours on the compound. Another highlight was the two presidential pardoned turkeys Caramel and Popcorn! We came back into the city for a late lunch at Good Stuff.
Steph’s roommate was in town so the girls went to her karaoke birthday party while Anthony and I had dinner with Ben and Julia at Pound the Hill. It was my first time there and I loved it. The portions were huge and tasty. We continued onto Molly Malone’s and then Anthony and I met up with the Steph’s at H Street Country Club and ended the night at Rock N Roll Hotel! Just like old times.

Sunday – We had a lovely morning of sleeping in, and then had lunch at Taylor Gourmet. We ventured over to Union Market for the opening of their second level Dock 5, which held Thread, a pop up boutique. Salt and Sundry is still my favorite store in DC, I want to live in it.
We ended the weekend by watching the 49er’s game before the girls had to catch their bus back to the city.

Such a fun filled weekend! I can’t wait to have them back.
