London in Four Months

This morning I had an art history class on the Baroque style in London – then moved into some Neo-Palladian styles. I’m starting to recognize the features in buildings I pass by, and it is great! I think I’m still far off from being ready for my visual analysis test in a few weeks but I’m getting there.

This afternoon we had our class at the Victoria and Albert Museum. It is a pretty spectacular museum. We looked at Raphael’s Cartoons – which are on loan from the Queen herself. The Cartoons are the plans for tapestries…which at the time were considered to be better than paintings. They are huge! And also do not allow photography. The Queen doesn’t want you taking pictures of her stuff. We then moved on to look at all sorts of furniture, including an impressive State Bed. I stayed at the V&A after our class…
